Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to change my student’s schedule?

Schedule change requests must be submitted to the counselor in writing via the schedule change request form within the first 2 weeks of the new semester.  All schedule changes are reviewed in accordance to the Schedule Change Policy . Odle’s counselors do not take individual appointments regarding schedule changes.

Acceptable reasons for a schedule change:

  • Student is missing a required class
  • Student was inappropriately placed in a class based on grade level
  • Student is scheduled into a class they did not request

Unacceptable reasons for a schedule change:

  • Student/Family prefers a different teacher
  • Student/Family wants a scheduled class moved to a different period/semester
  • Student wants a different lunch
  • Student is not earning an A or B, or is earning low grades in the class

Can you refer me to Bellevue-area tutors/mental health counselors/therapists?

District policy prohibits Odle’s counselors from making specific recommendations for outside tutors or mental health counselors. We can refer families to one of the counseling agencies with whom the district has an inter-agency agreement on file. To initiate counseling for your child, please contact the agency directly. If you are interested in having the mental health counselor meet with your student at school, please let the agency know and they will contact the school to arrange it.  Your child’s pediatrician would also be a good person to ask for a referral for a mental health counselor or therapist.

How can my child accelerate in math?

The math courses offered in BSD’s schools are articulated such that each course in the sequence builds upon the skills, concepts, knowledge and attitudes developed in the prerequisite courses. For more information regarding math acceleration visit the BSD Website here: https://bsd405.org/services/advanced-learning/math-placement/
